Famous people

Chemao came to studio to pick me up by car, we start sightseeing :D

Old city wall

Beautiful garden

Then there is a cafe,
from cafe we can see the sea.

This area is called Oudaiya,
buildings are painted by white and blue.

I followed Chemao at this narrow road, we got some house.

It was a famous person's house, Chemao's friend.
We went inside though, a little bit narrow.

I could find what inside of white and blue wall's like.

Famous person's wife, Camri let us inside, I said hello to famous person.

The famous person showed me his garden beside of sea.

This garden and the house, it was just a hole at first time, but the famous person made his house by himself for long years.

They served us coffee and cookie, so while I eat it, the famous person took something and writing a word at opposite side.

Um? he is writing my name..?

He gave me these.

Oh,,, this is his painting and portrait.

These are famous people. (maybe)
Actress Camri, artist Chemao, artist/musician Mahmoud Megri.

Do you know them??

Certainly, they are living inside a hole, so actually they are not normal people though.

Then we go out from the house though, Camri came with us.

Chemao take her to her work place by his car.

something for sightseeing.

something for sightseeing.

Camri was in hurry to go her work place, so just the car stopped at the sight for me and just I took a picture.

So I had no time to go inside of those.

Camri went work place on time, we head to "Sale" for lunch.

This is a pottery on the way to a restaurant.
But it was closed, so just I took a picture.

We arrived at a nice restaurant in Sale~ :D

He treated these for me~*
Too much for 2 person but yummy~***

I take it back rest of them by sandwitch.
Thank you Chemao!

Chemao took care of me very much as I stay in Rabat just today.
I heard there are not so much sight seeing in Rabat from my friend, so I took dessert tour for 3 days and go to Casablanca later though, I never expected Rabat is so much fun place...
..Actually I haven't seen sight seeing place as famous people...

He took me to Internet cafe and I uploaded for 1 week blog.

We went back to his studio and I did Thai massage for him, then he went back his home.

Time flys so fast in Morocco~.

To Rabat

I wake up at 7am and wrote blog.
Ismail wake up at 9am, then we 3 took breakfast together.

Then Ismail went to work, small Ismail checked my train time and fee for me, suddenly Ismail came back to home for forgot something in good timing, I asked him to take me to train station.
If I take bus, it will take 1 hr, but by his bike it took just 10min :D

Thank you for everything, Ismail~~~!!!

Marrakech station

New and clean and cool!

Marrakech to Rabat, 2nd, 120Dh(12Euro)

The train arrived at platform 20 min before deperture.

This is 2nd class.
Quite clean and comfortable than I expected!!

Then the train stopped at first station from Marrakech though,

Is this a station!?!?

There is nothing though...

Yes, here is Africa.

I thought so but also I found normal station after here.

I eat sandwitch and fruit though,

this is a cuctas(?) fruit, 1.50Dh(0.15Euro) from super market.

this is inside.
There are a lot of small seeds inside, the taste is like a fresh pumpkin.

Then in 4hours,

a train arrived at Rabat, capital of Morocco~.

In Marrakech, it was sunny and hot though, in Rabat, here is humid and cold...

Well, I don't use couch surfing in Rabat.

Instead of that, I decided to go to Chemao(58:Moroccan)'s house who I know him by skype.

When I stayed at Japan with no plan to go to Europe, he said "Come to Morocco", but I didn't think going his house though, he talked to me when I stayed in London and Madrid by skype, so just I came here to meet him by chance.

Chemao waited me at train station, we said hello each other.

I rode on his car, then he took me to cafe.

It seems someone want to meet me..?

Chemao treated panini and tea for me, wa~i*

Then a woman came to our table, she did French style greeting.

Wow, someone want to meet me, I already famous person :D
(Just she was interested in Japanese though.)

After the meeting, we head to Chemao's house by car.

I haven't had his address or anything, it seems far from city center..?

"This is my house"

Ok,,, what??

The car don't stop here.

"I take my friend to my studio. The studio is just 8km more"

We still go outside~!?
Just 8km...

"My house is seaside. Ah, this is king's palace"

I don't have a map or anything, so I have no idea though, here is a palace~.

Then we arrived at his studio.

I just knew Chemao is artist though, the house looks like an artist's house.

He opened a door and go in.

It's dark, so studio is Moroccan house.

He opened a second door and turned a light on.

Wow, there are a lot of paintings inside!

"This is bathroom"

When I looked it, it's very clean bathroom.

We go through painting room and opened next door and go more.

Working room and a garden.

He opened next door and go more.

There are more room!?

"This is also bathroom but you can't use hot water here, so use first one"

Wooow, there are 2 bathroom in studio~! Here is morocco~!?

Finally I got bed room.

I just put my baggage and go out again by car.
He show me around a little bit.

He took me seaside and showed me sunset.

We went back to studio again, Chemao introduce his works for me.

I used flash, so real paintings is much better.

He showed me his broucher of exibision and magazin he on.

Mountassir Chemao.

"If you serch Chemao on a Internet, my name is coming to top"

My name Sue in Japanese also is coming to top in Google though.

By the way, can I take tea..?

"You can make hot water by this macine. Ah, you can drink a water from tap. Here is near king's palace, so the water is good"

What!? I can drink a water from tap in Morocco!?!? Where is here!?

"Well, I go back to my home though, maybe tomorrow morning house keeping will come here, but don't be surprise"

He went back.

Should I call him Master Chemao...?

In Rabat, captal of Morocco, the place king come here for summer, he has a studio near the palace.

...well, actually I made my second house in around Europe I can stay at any time though! (by couch surfing)

I go to take a shower.

Walk walk walk.

It's far from bed room! To just bathroom, I walk a lot...!
Big house is sometimes inconvenient~.

Then I sleep in Master Chemao's house by myself, bigger than my home in Fukui.

Tip cheater

I felt cold in the morning, I wake up at 6am.

Well, I walk around dessert to look for Toilet place...

I can't find a good place as everyone everywhere...!

Where I can do pee~!(>_<)

I just draw on the sand to kill a time.

But still everyone everywhere, so I found a place behind of bush, and I did.

Then a breakfast time was coming,
bread, jam, yogurt and fresh mint tea~*

That's awesome we can eat such a breakfast on the dessert :D

The sunrise!!

The camel is soooo cute***

I went back to table to eat breakfast, a German man who collected tip yesterday and Mexcan man came to our table, then they asked us for giving then a tip!?!?

I sat down on same table with other Japanese girl though,
the German said "everyone paid tip, so you also pay tip".

Why this guys are collecting tip from everone!?!?

I wrote about tip at yesterday's blog though, tip is be given face to face by ourself.
Not collected from someone.

I felt very strange feeling from yesterday, I asked it to German who had no smile.

"For who?"

But the German don't answer.

"I don't have enough money though..."
a Japanese girl said.

"...How much?"
Japanese girl said again.
(Actually, she didn't have enough money as she couldn't withdraw cash from ATM in Marrakech.)

"20Dh a each"
the German said.

20Dh!?!?!? that's too much for tip for local people!!!!

I said with surprise.

"you can pay even 1000Dh"
the Mexican guy who were staiding by German said like that.

I ask again.
"For who?"

The German guy don't answer anything, just keep silence with no smile.

That's very strange...but suddenly the Mexican guy said like this.
"You are eating breakfast, so how about for breakfast. 20Dh is nothing. hahaha"

Why the Mexican guy can say such a thing!?!?

But the situation had a something stressful pressure, so I and other Japanese girl passed then 20Dh.

The German guy didn't say any thank with no smile, they walked away after got tip from us.

...my feeling is very bad.

Why?? why the guys is collecting tip from everyone??

If they want to give a tip, they should do it by themself, so I had no idea why they were collecting from everyone.

I was feeling such a bad feeling, then breakfast time was finished, we ride on a camel.

Riding on a camel.

on the dessert...

Why..., why the guys collected tip from everyone...?
20dh(2Euro) a each is too much for local people.
It means altogether 40Euro,,, the local people can live at least half a month by that.

I got brain storm.

To their pocket...!!

40Euro for local people, it means 400Euro for us.
For Moroccan people, that's too much money just for 1 night.

If they got such money, the local staff must be too happy and say thank for everyone.

But....we haven't seen the guys passed the tip for dessert people.

Even if they did it, half for them, half for their pocket...?

When I thought about the story, the strange feeling from yesterday were in 1 line.

#After the German guy collected tip from everyone, he sat down beside of me though, I found UN natural 40Dh on his side.

#The German guy said his name is Martin for me and a Singapolian guy though, he said his name is Peter in front of everyone.

#When we checked in a hotel last night, a Singapolian guy called the German guy using his name twice with loudly, but he didn't notice it.
Third time he called his name from biside of him, finally he noticed it.

#The German and Mexican guy were same room on a hotel.

#A tip is tip, no fix price, but they set high price and collected from everyone.

Riding riding.

At morning I felt cold and needed jacket though, it's getting warm after sunrise.

Beautiful dessert.

But I feel pain on my hip..(>_<)

The Camel team was 3 lines.

We rode on the dessert around 1 and a half hr, we arrived at a starting point~.
My hip is painful though...

This is the camel I rode.
Sooooo cute***

Here is a starting point.

We took our baggage from car and confirm it, then we ride on a car though,, other 2 Japanese girl go to Fes from here, so we say good bye to them.

There is a bus to Fes from near here though, it was not correct so they asked other driver from Fes to let them ride on a same car.

The car had a space for them fortunately, so they paid 150Dh a each.
Normally the bus is 120Dh a each from near town though, that's a good price for them as they can ride on a car from here directly.

Our car was started from dessert,
a car stopped at fossile souvenir shop.

This is a tour, so a car stopped every 2hours for toirett or break.

This is a view from front of souvenir shop.

Well, just I saw the German guy though, he bought 2 box of tabacco even it's expensive buying here.
It'd be cheper if he buy the tabacco in Marrakech city...the money come from...

I was not good feeling as I passed 20Dh to him.
But this kind of person, he will get double bad luck later definitely, so I don't close to him.

Well, a car stopped at restaurant at past noon though, it was of course expensive, so I eat sandwitch and fruit I bought in Marrakech.

By the way, what's this fruit??

When I found this fruit near Jardin Majorelle, the street shop seller said 20Dh(2Euro) for 1 fruit, of course I didn't buy it.
I bouht this one at supermarket in 1.80Dh(0.18Euro).
What a poor street shop seller..

I cut this fruit and saw it, there are a lot of pink seeds*
I have no idea what's this fruit but the taste is new, :D

In lunch time, the car driver was eating his lunch at separeted room, so when I said hi to him, he gave me his half lunch! thank you~~~***

A driver can eat lunch for free normally though I asked him why don't you take us tourist to local restaurant.
He answered, if he take foreign tourist to local cheap restaurant, they may be get sick, that's why he take us to expensive restaurant for tourist.

I see, that's make sence.

He can't speak English so much, basically he is quiete driver though, he is also Ismail's friend as well, he was very kind and good man.

The car was driving,

I took pictures while drove through cute buildings*

Between Marrakech and Sahara dessert, there are huge mountains, so we can see great scenery.

Photo from inside of a car*

Well then, we arrived at Marrakech around 8:30pm, after dark.

If I take taxi or bus, it'd be delay, so I asked the driver to take me to Ismail's house.
He said yes kindly :D

Then I arrived at Ismail's house, I said thank and tryed to pass a thank money though, he don't take it as we are friend.
But I said "We are friend, that's why please take it :D" with smile.

When I went back to Ismail's house, today was Sunday, he and his friends had a small party in his house.

Just I put my baggage on his house, I go to Hammam(Bath) near his house quickly.

I slipped into bath at 8:40pm, then closed at 9pm.
Whoa~, I could!

I really wanted taking bath as I couldn't yesterday on the dessert!

I went back to house and joined into their party, they gave me few bottles of Moroccan beer and some light meal, I showed then my photo of dessert tour and talked about my story, we enjoyed our time together :D

After the party, I did short Thai massage to Ismail, then my couch surfing experience in Marrakech was finished~*

Yeah, that was really good experienced for me in Marrakech :D
I enjoyed as much as I can***

Sahara Dessert

I ate breakfast at hotel from 7:30am.
Bread, honey, jam, batter, tea, milk and orange juice.

We rode on a car 8:30am, then in 2 hours, the car stopped at somewhere.

The Berber guide waited us.

We had no idea but followe him on a farm.

We went into a berber village,

the guide took us a carpet shop.

Then we had to listen to a story about carpet around 30min.
It's because of tour...

Then a guide took us to next souvenir shop.

I asked about a towel for head, before he say the price, he rolled a towel on my head(lol).

The price was 50Dh(5Euro), a little bit expensive.
I and Inagaki went to new city and found a shop who had price tag, it was 20Dh(2Euro).And also other person bought similar towel at old market as 70Dh(7Euro).
Yeah, local price is 20Dh.
So if you wanna buy the towel, this is just for reference.

We rode on a car,

took a picture*

Then a car stopped at restaurant, then we just ordered first, then
we walked around valley.

then we went back to restaurant, we take lunch though, I just ordered coke(10Dh), I ate sandwitch I brought by myself.

But the Berber guide, he just stayed 1 hr with us, even though he didn't introduced himself, he offered tip for us.

I didn't like him, so I don't wanna give any tip though, a serious German man walked around to get tip from everybody.
I really didn't wanna do that, but he said everybody paid 10Dh for the guide,,,, so I just passed him 5Dh.

But you know, tip is tip, someone give a tip who satisfied his work.
So it's strange he offered tip from everybody.
The guide let the German boy gather the money, it's also strange.

Eventually, the guide got 140Dh(14Euro) from 14 people of us.
It's about 100Euro for Morrocan people just for 1 hr.

It's tooooo much for tip!!

I don't know why everybody did it such a thing...

Also the guide will get some margin from restaurant and carpet shop.

So I don't recommend you don't give him any tip if you take this tour...

Well, we had to kill us time like this, then we rode on a car again, finally we head to the dessert!!

We bought a water before dessert, 6Dh(0.60Euro).

Arrived at the dessert~~!!

We took some stuff what we need tonight, rest of baggage, put inside the car.

We walked on a sand.

Camel here~~!!!

Waaaai!!! This is awesome!!

We had a camel for a person, and walked on the dessert from 5pm.

Really fun!!!

But it was getting dark,,,

we rode off from a camel and walked on the dessert by our foot around 20min.
It's really hard..

Then we arrived at a camp at 8pm~.
Got tired...

This is dinner.
Nice :)

We could choose where we sleep, so I choose outside on a sand under the star :D

Matress and 2 of branket on a dessert.

At night, the dessert people(staff) played and sanged a song in the dark.

I was writing a blog on the dessert, I slept on sandy bed with seeing sparkling stars :D

Dessert tour

I woke up at 6:30am, and Ismal's friend dropped me to Jaama el Funa by car at 7am.

I rode on a tour cabin with the other 12 people.

The baggages are on the car ceiling.

I found other 2 Japanese girls on the same tour, I asked about the fee of tour, they said thay paid 800Dh(80Euro) by discount.
Woow!!! that's a good price!!

I try discount everytime though, this time I wanted apply this tour at Ismail's office, so I didn't think about any discount, so I paid 950Dh for this tour.
Thus, if you want to apply this 3 days dessert tour from Marrakech, try to discount!

Talking about the dessert tour, just taking a nice picture at nice sight today, so we are almost on a car and sometimes a car stopped for taking picture.

Well, the car stopped at a restaurant at noon.
In this tour, a breakfast and dinner are included, but not lunch.

I went inside and checked the menu though, it was of course more than double price, so I don't take a table everyone took, I just sit down near gate and ate rice puff I brought.
The driver saw me, and kindly he gave me his half of lunch for me :D

Salada, bread, kebabu and fruit salada*
I guess the driver can eat his food for free everytime, so he kindly gave a half, and I was be full.
I think Moroccan people are very kind, shuklan~****

We rode on a car to next point taking a picture.

The car stopped behind of a castle, when I rode off from a car, I noticed some paper gabage near my foot.

Um...? ah, this is gabage.

But I saw it twice,,, to my surprise, it's 100Dh~!!!

Waaaaai!!! I got 100Dh(10Euro) :D
No one noticed it as looks like paper gabage.

But come to think of it, I got lunch for free, moreover I got 100Dh, eventually my tour fee turned to be 800Dh.
Wow, my pray is always come true :D

Well then it was already getting dark, the car arrived at hotel around 7pm finally~.

Then hotel staff give us a room key though, I was single in a tour, so they don't give me a room key for single, they wanted let me in share room with others.
But Inagaki who already joined this tour gave me an advice, try to get single room, they should be have it.

But the staff just say "No room for single, we are full, so you have to share room with someone".

They said "you and the other girls are same Japanese, so we give a room for 3"

Buuuut, it's not a nice reason just for nationality!
And also other girls who came from other country, they got 1 room for 2.
So other 2 Japanese girls also didn't agree with that, one of them came from England who are working there few years already, she never agree with that, so that was not fair for us.

But finally the stuff gave us room key a each.
They said "We are full" but they still had some rooms.

I knew that!!

Thank you Inagaki, your advice was worked!!

Then I got a room just for me :D

We all eat dinner together at restaurant on hotel.

Kind of vagetable soup, good*

Fried Chikin and boiled vegetable on Kusukusu, yummy*

Fruit salada*

We were on a car almost whole day, so tired~.
I go to bed soon :D
